About Department
The Department was established in1967 Sociology is a branch of social science. It studies about the social structure and organizations, Ideology of Indian and Western social thinkers. It also studies the social relationship among the members of the community. Students are taught the nature and scope of sociology. The students also learn the various social problems and social movements. The department aims to equip the student with the latest sociological knowledge, research aptitude and skills. There by the students can understand the dynamics of Indian society and the global social order.
The Department of Women’s Studies was established in the year 2012.
The department gives knowledge on importance of women’s education. Concept of health, food and nutrition, general discrimination and the relationship of women’s studies with social sciences like History, Sociology Economics and Political Science. The department sensitizes Women towards the current social issues confronting them.

- Advancement and dissemination of sociological knowledge for upholding values such as democracy, quality, social justice and inclusiveness required for just and women society.
Mission
- To help students differentiate between sociology’s to purposes-science and social reform.
- To motivate students to express their understanding of current social issues in oral and written forms.
- To help students to critically look at globalization and its impact on societies.

Career Opportunities
The Department provides informal career guidance and placement services to the students. The requests by Principals of the Colleges and other agencies are notified to the students and are encouraged to apply. Teachers counsel the students appearing for competitive examinations. Need based training programmes in Research Methodology, NET Coaching and Computer and Quantitative techniques are also conducted to increase the employability of the Students.
