About Department

Due to relentless efforts of Dr. Moojagum the department of Hindustani Music was established in the year 1967. It is one of the oldest & rarest dept. The faculty since its inception has never looked back & is currently successfully training the students in the field of Hindustani Classical Vocal Music. Apart from the regular teaching curricular the department regular by arranges & invites renowned eminent, personalities scholars for special lecture demonstration, workshop, seminars & connects for the benefit of the student. The students are encouraged to participate in seminar, workshops, Inter collegiate, State Level, National Level & International Level competitions.

          Well equipped music lab with Percussion, Non-Percussion, Electronic & Folk Instruments. The department has always strived to innovate & introduce certificate courses. The faculty are performing Artistes with Radio & T.V. grading and are BOS & BOE members of various universities.

          In the year 2018-19 The PG Department of Music was established. Under NEP 2020 H.Music is also introduced as an OEC subject for BA & B.Com students. The Music Department has 438 books 28 CD’S. During the several years our students have been recipients of “Karnataka Sangeet Nrutya Academy” & ‘Ustad Bale Khan Memorial Trust’ scholarship. During the last two year our students got ‘B’ Grade in AIR Dharwad in the field of light music.
